Sustainable Wood Sourcing – The Beginning of the Cycle

The journey of sustainable Woody Socks® begins in responsibly managed forests. Tree species such as beech, eucalyptus, and pine are harvested from certified sources (FSC and PEFC). In addition to protecting old-growth forests, cotton waste is recycled and integrated into the process. Currently, 30% of the raw material consists of recycled fibers, with a goal of reaching 50% by 2025. This innovative approach conserves natural resources and supports the transition to a circular economy.

Pulp and Fiber Production – Innovation with a Low Footprint

The next step is pulp and fiber production, where wood is processed into Lyocell fibers—an eco-friendly and biodegradable fiber. Thanks to closed-loop technology, the chemicals used are almost entirely recovered and reused, significantly reducing environmental impact. This technology requires 50% less water and generates 50% fewer emissions compared to conventional production methods. These Lyocell fibers, known for their softness and breathability, form the sustainable and durable foundation of Woody Socks®.

Yarn Production and Manufacturing – From Raw Material to Finished Product

The Lyocell obtained from wood and cotton production is blended with Supima cotton, recycled polyamide, and elastane to create a high-quality yarn. This yarn is processed into Woody Socks® within the EU under strict environmental and social standards. The entire supply chain is transparent and traceable—from wood harvesting to fiber production to the finished sock. This transparency ensures that all materials come from sustainable sources and that production takes place under fair working conditions. The socks not only offer exceptional comfort and breathability but are also compostable within 16 weeks—a true example of sustainable circular economy. In this way, Woody Socks® not only bring a smile to your feet but also take the planet one step closer to a greener future.
