Social health

Loneliness has a negative impact on health. Studies have shown that a lack of social contact can lead to a weakened immune system, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease and a number of other serious illnesses.

That is why we strongly support social interaction in our region in various ways, whether through cultural highlights, a wide range of measures to enrich jobs at our headquarters in Iserlohn, or targeted involvement in regional elite and popular sports.

Employee health – enriching the job

The health of our employees is particularly important to us, which is why we offer them a wide range of sports and relaxation activities in our free company gym, MediGym.

From fitness and yoga classes to bike tours through the Sauerland region and relaxing afternoons with singing bowls – physical activity, physical and mental health, and social interaction are specifically promoted at the MediCampus employee academy.

Our own fitness studio - the MediGym

To promote balance and increase the well-being of our employees, we operate our own MediGym fitness studio at our Iserlohn site. Covering an area of 400 m2, it offers a wide range of modern cardio and training equipment as well as a free weights area with a variety of equipment for all training levels. Our employees can use the facility free of charge every day between 6 a.m. and midnight and, if interested, follow an individual training plan with our personal trainer, two-time Olympic coach Carlos Esteves.

MediCampus

Our targeted promotion of physical and mental health and social interaction is rounded off by a wide range of joint activities offered by our employee academy MediCampus. Whether yoga classes, bike tours, sailing trips, skiing holidays, joint cooking events or courses on healthy and sustainable nutrition – here, our employees discover that health can be fun.

Regional cultural promotion

We are committed to social projects that promote coexistence among people in the region. A key objective of our support in this area is to preserve, establish or expand cultural diversity.

Example: Organ Foundation Bauernkirche

The launch of the ‘OrgelGlanzLichter’ concert series, initiated by the Pütter-Ammer family, continues a project close to the heart of Dr. Sigurd Pütter, who shaped the family business MEDICE in its second generation. The renovation of the Bauernkirche and the donation of the newly built Grenzing organ were among the last major projects that Dr. Sigurd Pütter made possible through his extensive commitment. The four-manual Grenzing organ (inaugurated by Olivier Latry on 6 December 2019) offers organists almost limitless playing possibilities.

His daughter, Dr. Katja Pütter-Ammer, continues her father's passion and promotes concerts with world stars from the international organ scene, creating a musical beacon in the forest city. In addition to the evening master concerts, students from North Rhine-Westphalia have the opportunity to take lessons from world-renowned artists on the day after the concert. Thanks to the support of the Pütter-Ammer family, the lessons are free of charge for selected students and can be attended by interested listeners at public events.

Targeted commitment to regional elite and popular sports

We are involved in a wide variety of sports. Whether it's ice hockey, basketball, football, tennis, table tennis or equestrian sports, we support the valuable work of sports clubs where people can come together and enjoy physical activity, either by attending sporting events or actively participating in club sports. In addition to the physical benefits, recreational sports can also help reduce stress and promote mental health. Sporting activities can help release endorphins, improve mood and boost self-esteem. Participating in group sports promotes social contact and strengthens feelings of connection and community.

Without this support, clubs would often be unable to offer the same range of activities as they do today. In this way, we directly strengthen social cohesion and promote the long-term health of people in our region.

Children's and youth sports are particularly close to our hearts – with projects such as the Roosters Kids Club or the Mini Basketball World Cup at the Iserlohn Kangaroos, we want to inspire children to do something for their health at an early age and to work together as a team towards a common goal.

Social involvement

The Katja Pütter-Ammer foundation

With the Katja Pütter-Ammer Foundation, which was founded in 2025, our managing partner also sets a clear example of social commitment as a private individual - in the spirit of Let's take Care!

The foundation promotes the mental health of children and adolescents – and specifically supports the people who accompany them in their daily lives.

The foundation is the result of the personal social commitment of the managing partner of MEDICE Health Family.
